I'll find some info later but I'd heard a theory that abductions were possibly a form of sleep paralysis.

I have a mate who has had a few sleep paralysis episodes. He said it's so real and terrifying that he wouldn't wish it on his worst enemy. Fuck that hey! :-P

I think they even surmised that the myth about succubi was based on that as well. Would be creepy as shit, right up there with waking up during an operation!
