Been getting into running a bit. Going to be running in the Auckland "Round the Bays" event. It's only 8km but it's been good motivation to get of my arse and do something.
This was this mornings effort:

Thats Excellent Boogz , been getting into running myself lately , excellent for stress relief .
Had shin splints , then knee problems , now there sorted my quads are feeling it now , working its way up and out ...
But walking/running 6km 4 times a week , Usually run till i have to stop then walk to keep my heart rate up , then continue running , trying to get up to running the whole 6kms , work in progress
so you are doing very well ...

Yeah, it's taken 6 weeks of 5 days a week running to get to where I am now. When I started I was only able to run about 50 - 100 meters before stopping and walking. I don't focus on distance too much, rather I try to complete a set time. So at the beginning the target was a modest 20 minutes, then 30, 35, 40 ...
But along the way there has been injury, shin splints at the start, knee pain -- which required getting orthotics. The Round the Bays run is now only about a week and a half away (not his Sunday but the following Sunday), I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to complete the run, I won't be setting any records or anything. I hope to complete it in about an hour.

Yer i have a 6km park at my back door , 6km path around the outer that is ...
I walk till i warm up , run till im breathless , walk fast to keep heart rate up then run again , getting there ...
shin splints r gone , knee problems are gone now , is it quads , front of upper legs ? they are sore now , so im assuming its working up to my hips next lol ...
I stretch , sometimes mid run as well , but its good , work in progress tho , but certainly sheds fat , not that im fat .
But great for processing daily BS , great for your soul ...

I should clarify, im not a total lazy write off...
I dont run but I do a good walk/swim 3 - 4 days / week. Kirra Point - Rainbow Bay - Snapper Rocks to Froggies Beach on the sand, over Duranbah Hill & down into Coolie for a cuppa chai from my fav hippie cafe joint. On return ill jump in the surf for a dozen body surf waves at which ever spot looked the best on 1st walk past. About 7k all up, half on sand. Throw in 90mins daily of meditation & yoga and im about as fit as ill get with out 'working out'.
