will be doing a hot flash..... i don't have a floppy i am guessing that the same process applies only i will be flahing from optical. drive. making that first boot, disconnecting all other drives bootup -alt f2-(should then ask - insert disk to proceed ) change chip-add disc for da flash and away we go !!!!!!!! right
GRRRRR hope all goes well m8....... I tried doing a VGA bios update through a windows utility and it F**Ked it up big time. However I was lucky enough to boot from the other card and flash it the ONLY way... through dos/command line, all returned to normal after flashing through DOS.
I know I was lazy and tried the windows option ..... NEVER AGAIN!!!

Well I dropped it off today to get tested......... It the third board !!!!!!!!!!
1) First one was DOA... it got swapped the same day
2) The above DOA replacement had the corrupt video issues however is was stable..... it got sent away for 3 weeks
3) The above replacement is DOA
The reckon they will have to send it away again if its faulty...... it thats all they are going to do i'm going to tell them to shove it up their ARSE !!!
I don't think i'll be buying an NVIDIA based mobo again.

HAHA yes scummy I should do that, its still away at ASUS..... what a load of shit its been over 4 months now. However the gigabyte x48T DQ6 board is rock solid... really happy with that mobo.
Anyway I scored a dell poweredge 2900 server with what appears to be a dead mobo , dual xeons, 3x75gb 15K SAS, 4 GB ECC, dual 930w power supplies...... just not sure if it worth the $600 for a new mobo. as I haven't got a server board to test the other parts...... hmm what to do

Well I got my striker board back sometime ago and decided I'd retire the 2x Ati HD3870s I had in the other machine as they are just too loud and ATI have to get their drivers sorted properly.
So I got 2 x GTX260s and ran them in sli however I'm really disappointed in the performance of these cards compared to benchmark scores I have seen on the internet.
These cards are maybe 10-20% better than the HD3870's I had in crossfire on the other pc.
The HD3870's could run crysis at 1920x1200 @ medium fine however is was a bit chunky on high settings
These GTX 260's can run crysis at 1920x1200 @ high (just) however way too chunky at very high
Is there something I'm missing here? quite frankly i'm not sure what is going on..... I was expecting a far better improvement in scores.
--------------------------------------------
Machine specs are:
Striker 2 780i mobo
2.4 ghz q6600 quad core
antec 1000w ps
4GB corsair ddr2 1066
sound blaster x-fi
2xGTX 260 SLi
Single card 3dmark 06 score: 11508
sli cards 3dmark 06 score: 12524
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
Machine specs
gigabyte x48t-dq6
3.16 ghz e8500
antec 850w ps
6gb gskill ddr3 1600
o/b sound
1x 8800gt
3dmark 06 score: 11369
1x gtx260
3dmark 06 score: 13629
-------------------------------------------
Any thoughts?

Your cpu is bottle necking those 260 cards something fierce.
the q6600 @ 2.4ghz is no where near enough to support the throughput of the two cards.
I have a single 260gtx in my system and I get just on 17k in 3dmark 06 - But i have a e8500 running at 4ghz.
Either bump up the clock speeds on your q6600 or get a faster chip.
