Puty has drama's now, getting error on boot -
'USB Device Over Current Status Detected"
Done the Toms H/W & AsusTek forums, tryed all the noted fix's - check usb ports for bent pins, clear cmos, reseated all cards, removed all cards cept graphics, removed all usb devices, boot with no k/b & mouse...
System posts & gets to bios splash then the error followed buy shut down in 15secs.
All indications to mobo fail - any other idea's ?

That "USB Device Over Current Status Detected" is an odd one. Sounds like (if you have removed all usb devices) like an internal short in the astual usb hub or tracks in the mobo/chipset. I'm assuming no bios updates state this as a know error and fixing it with a new bios?
What happens if you disable all usb ports in the BIOS and try boot it?
No internal USB headers are being used?

Yeh Rusty... its an odd one alright.... search's showed heaps of diff possibilities, most referred to a short some where.
I even removed mobo from box in case was shorting to box, no go....
As for bios, wont even boot that far, i get the mobo splash then bios error msg then auto shut down, even if press delete to enter bios.

Picked up a brand new Asus 5PK se/epu mobo for $65, thought that was perfect timing and $.
Ive got a couple socket 775 generation spares, ram, gfx, psu etc.. but no mobo, so was happy not to have to upgrade.
