new Maiden is OK, although I stopped being interested in them after 7th Son. They have done some good songs since but I just never got excited by them after. New album has a couple of good songs on it, but they are all a bit samey. Not worth buying IMO unless you're a fan of their later work.

New Deftones on the 31st, looking forward to that (it only leaked yesterday or something, haven't heard it yet.

New Isis also on 31st. Great band, well worth checking out. Not sure exactly what you'd call their style but it's sort of like if you applied post-rock style to metal and cut back on the ambient wankery. Very highly recommended.

If you want some serious, smashed in the face by a wall of sound music, check out the new Anaal Nathrakh. These guys play some of the most fucking insane black metal I have ever heard. New album is a real progression with heaps of strong melodic elements that compliment the fucking assault and battery that gets committed on your face and head.

It has been a damn good year for metal, heaps of solid class albums released in all sub-genres. If anyone is interested I could expand my post and give a few suggestions...

I'll agree with you spud, im more of a older maiden fan.. rather than the new stuff...
