Hey, I have been looking at getting a new screen to replace the old crappo chemei that we use ATM.
The more I look at them the more confused I am getting.
I want 120hz with low lag at least 24 in .
Don't care about about 3D ATM
Any thoughts?

I'm ordering the Samsung S27A950.
Great reviews - Minimal input lag - 27 Inches - Awesome colour reproduction - 120hz over DVI-D
Some backlight bleeding problems on some units in the bottom right corner ( nothing major tho ) unit itself has a strange design.

I would rather get the S27A750 - Purely because of the design but this monitor will not do 120hz over HDMI and has no support for DVI-D - You need Displayport to use it to it's full potential - Good if you have newer gfx cards.

Cheers Hado, that's the way I have Been thinking. I hadnt noticed the connection on the 750 but I think I have display port.

The other option is a 24 Alienware.

Or do I go for another decent 24 ?

I almost bought the Alienware monitor a few weeks back.
It was on sale for $369 on their site - but I wanted something to do design / photography work on - and the colour reproduction on the Alienware is supposedly lacking .
It's also not an LED monitor - And The cathode lit displays give me a bad headache.

Unless you want to wait for a few months and see if they release some decent IPS LED 120hz monitors - But expect to pay a heavy premium when they finally start shipping.

If I get my Samsung before you have bought I will let you know what it's like for quake and in grneral.

i definitely don't think that you need a 3D monitor. 3D gaming is a let down, and it gives you a headache if you play more an FPS for more than an hour. it's not worth the extra money.

A by product of 3d is that the panel has to be 120hz to display a 3d image ( 2x 60hz image fields ) - This refresh rate is very desirable amongst people who play fast paced games due to it's much smoother interpolation of frames.

I have no intention of ever using the 3d feature of mine - Nor do most people who purchase them.

that's fair enough, 120hz is incredible, 3D however, is stupid.
