Just leave the machine on. If you switch off the monitor, the PC uses about the same amount of power as a light bulb.

The reason i want it to turn on is that she doesnt want to use her peak usage to D/L stuff ,
So if i can get it to turn on at say 1:00 am she will D/L off peak .

There may be a setting in you bios "Wake Alarm" or something like that were you can schedule a time on.

Wouldn't it be far easier to just schedule the downloads either through the router or the software? What software/router does she have?

Utorrent has got a nice little scheduler built in to it... I think you'd have to have the PC left on to utilize it though.

It does. Most Billion ADSL routers support QoS too.

I would just use the torrent program to do it but expect an email/phone call from ur isp saying that ur violating the agreements, your sposed to be sitting at ur computer while dl'ing

That was a joke right ME?
Anyway UTorrent scheduler works like a charm...I pretty much used it all the time except at the end of the month (when I made my ISP bleed...

Make sure that "Disable DHT when turning off" is ticked (if you use DHT of course).
