Computer starting on its own ...

Hi poeples ,

Got a new putey , with vista ultimate on it , was in another room this morning heard a sound which was the computer starting up bye itself , first time this has happened , i have turn all the power options to never , turn off etc etc ...

has anybody else seen this ?
read on a forum that theirs a wake on lan setting in the bios but i couldnt find it and if thats the case why is this only the first time ?
gonna do a virus check now ...

isnt vista great (cough) nup ...

It’s not vista, although expect some surprises with vista. It sounds like your bios; there is a setting that tells your pc to turn on when there is a phone signal present. You can test this by unplugging all phone/lan lines from your pc and see if it still happens :)

sounds like wake-on-lan (except this is hte first time). If there isnt a bios setting, there should be a jumper setting on your board.

i,ll look at my MB book for the jumper ...
