technology for displays keeps on improving and the other day i saw some pictures and read about about how they shold be on the market by the end of this year ie 4th Quarter 2007.
they have fixed a couple probs with the lcd panels .
- being u can view from any angle and it looks superb, they are back lit by design not needing an actual back lit light, they also look a little better again than lcd's and they are also super thin . but as always they will probly be super expensive for the 1st 12 months then come down into the price range of ordinary people!

they look very promising combining all the advantages of lcds and crts !

the ATI radeon X1950 pro agp are available now form CPL in melb . ther seemt ot be 2 diff versions currently available . sapphire have a 256mb [$335) and a 512mb version [$389)
Powercolor alos have a 256 mbb version. i have also seen that HIS have their version s as well with the ice Q cooling setup but they are a bit more expensive! ie approx $375 and $425 !

these are currently the fasterest agp cards u can get! the only thing they dont run as well as nvidia is the doom 3 engined games eg doom3 Quake 4 and n e thing else although Prey seems to run ok? wtf?
they are good prices too! ther are of course pci express versions as well which are slightly cheaper !

AMD are sprouting off about ther upcoming Barcelona quad cored cpu due out around mid year . saying it will be 40% faster than intel core 2 duo so i understand it .

we will have to wait and see. if it is then it will cost an absolute fortune. but core 2 duos will be cheaper then ! hehe either way we all win!

Maybe i read that wrong but AMD's quad core cpu should be bloody faster than the intel Core 2 Duo. AMD are comparing their Quad core to Intels Dual core.....

intel have introduced a new chipset for motherboards. it is called the p35 chipset originally codenamed Bearlake.

it seems to be a replacement for the current p965 chipset. it has a few small differences , namely it supports both ddr2 and ddr3 but not at the same time . it is up to the manufactureers as to what they want to implement. also it supports the up and coming Penryn cpus due out later this year. it also has done completely away with PATA hdds . it is supposed to offer the cobbled xfire setup ie pci Ex x16 lane + pciEx x4 lane but is said to be not working correctly as yet. also they have done completely away with all P4 cpu support!

later in the year [ie 3rd Q] they will release another chispet code named X38 which is the high end version of the currnet p975 chispset! fully supporting Xfire with dual x16 lanes for vid cards!
rumours also have Nvidia and IUntel coming to some arrangement that the p38 may alos support Nvidias SLI technology straight out of the box?

also a large price drop is expected around july 07 sometime for Intel Quad core cpus!

and also AMD are expected ot release their Barcelone Quad core !

things are looking really good at teh moment !

on the AMD/ATI front , finally they relesased ther new vid card the X2900XTx which was a huge dissapointment! it is generally comes in just under the GF8800GTS in performance. also they have a lot of issues with a lot of games. their drivers are very buggy indeed. and that is for XP, dont even mention Vista!

u want a big ass lcd panel! well the TIME is NOW !

acer 24" lcd panel = $649 @ cpl melb. using staticice just under $600.

veiwsonic 28" vx2835wm lcd monitor = $888 cheapest on staticice!
how fkn good is this! how fkn B I G is THIS ! of course u will want a beast of a putey to run it at stupid high res of 1900x1200 !


AMD sometime soon this month (sept 07] will release ther unbelievably late new quad core cpus code named Barcelona ! some unofficial benchmarks have it looking mighty good agianst intel quad core cpus! they wil supposedly come out in low speed numbers around 2ghz and quickly ramp up towards xmas! they should get to 3ghz just after to xmas.
one wonders how much they will cost ? if they are really good then they will be stupidly expensive! but AMD has lost a lot of market share in cpus so maybe with a little luck they run them out cheapo to get a big buy up upon relaese!!
if they are really good on release then we may have ourselves another huge price war for high end stuff which can only be a good theing for all us putey lovers, especially if u r in the mix for a new rig! like me!
