Does any one have any ideas on how to stop messenger being run ..IV used gpedit.msc utility to no avail.

Have you tried the easy option? This works with both msn and windows messenger? (Im hoping we're all talking about the same thing here :P )

uninstall it, remove their user privileges for installing applications and purge their user profile on logoff. Who needs a scalpel when you can use a bazooka? ;)

Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policies.
In the list -> Software restriction Policies. Follow teh prompts.

well, give them a login and do as I suggested. The only way they can get around that is hax your pw or hax XP.

well, if they are using your login, and you are logging in as an admin user then there is FA you can do about it.
