Props to you for running this gubs.
If you're offering prize money have you thought of putting up a bitcoin wallet address or paypal for donations?

Quakelive has a fickle community.

Why do people enter a comp (showing an intention) and not realise that once the comp starts and the weekend comes around (ie the weekly time-period to play comp matches), players are surprised to learn they actually have a game to play that weekend? The rounds are listed so you know who you are playing each week from the start of the comp.

I don’t get the “we didn’t know we had a game on” surprise each weekend.

Last weekend, round 5 (of seven) into the comp and kom, {tD} and frks have pulled out, leaving cy@, Dvide and PiT. Phy1um is crook and has pulled out due to illness (all the best mate and hope you get well soon) and the rest, mostly cbf by all accounts.

cy@ is therefore declared the winning team of the comp and by default the remaining two teams, dvide and PiT place second and third respectively.

Fraze takes out the MVP award, winning the $50 prize.
Instinctt, Fraze, Mick05 and zlr all tied for MVOP
Aeol, p0pe, Bwaisey and Fraze all tied for MVDP
Not sure how to reconcile those last two awards, any suggestions?

I would like to thank all those players who turned up and who hung around waiting for other team mates to arrive to play their games. Thanks also to those that helped with (my) server settings and those that spawned servers.

The initial buzz around the comp made it fun and there were some hectic games. cy@ vs kom was great to watch, Aeols flag return a good example of the calibre in some of the matches. GGz.

I’m not going to follow through with the insta comp. Too much effort goes into it for this kind of outcome. Will just look forward to some pub games from herein… peace out/ Gubben

Thanks Gubben.

+1 on most of the above. :(

It's not hard to guesstimate if you're going to be free and even easier to let people know when you can't.

I like my deposit/bond idea idea :D

Well done for organising it Gubs. It's a pity it ended up like it did.

Well done to the winners and all who played.
Did I just say that?
