AiM iCTF Tourney #3 ROUND 6 INFO

Postby Gubben » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:06 pm

Getting down to the business end of town. Sunday's games were:

V. vs -SS- was an exciting three map battle with V. winning 1-0 (Court) 4-5 (Iron) 4-2 (Jap) and eliminating -SS-. Tempers rose as first V. experienced connectivity problems with Roschach before -SS- had Aeol undergo similar issues. Both teams used timeouts and pauses beyond the comp rules but in the interest of good sportsmanship and competition both teams played on and was GGz.

Other match played was 101 vs iQ with 101 blitzing first map 5-0 (Jap) and then 5-2 (Court) eliminating iQ. GGz

No one has posted screenshots. Please do so here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=5339&start=30

Bracket can be viewed here: http://intothepit.org/aim-instagib/3/bracket_view.php

Next match is V. vs 101, the winner will play cy@ in the semi finals. Loser is eliminated.

If this match is scheduled during this week the winners can play cy@ on sunday. If not and match is played on the default sunday would winners be up for playing the semi on the same night or not?

Have you ever hosted a comp where teams actually had to follow the rules?

Sketchy,

If I thought there was under handed intention by Phrygian taking timeouts it might have been a different call. But Roschach’s connection was bad, that was clear, and in the interest of continuing the comp game instead of forfeiting the team, the call to continue was given. (There wasnt a pip of comment from SS later in the match when Aeol stopped the game almost as many times)

The issue that puzzles me was why True4m left the server as he was V.’s sub.

Shadow-bijou and rawr(i think?) asked him to leave to make room for anomvoltz. SS had several players who could have vacated the server to make room, which I was about to ask when True4m just quit. Then when Roschach went from frozen to timeout and disappeared, where was True4m to sub in? How could he get back in while SS filled the server and called forfeit?

Once True4m re joined, the match continued for a few minutes until True4m suddenly quit the server, mid game! Like wtf? One or two from V. asked for a spec to leave to let Roschach back on the server (at that stage it would have been purely for him to spec as the match was underway and his sub had filled in for him, ie True4m) but True4m decides to leave. He thought he had been asked to leave he said, go read the chat he said, I did I said, it was clearly not directed at him.

True4m just left in the middle of the quarter finals. Now there was an uproar with calls for forfeit. It was clear no one from V. had asked him to leave and again, i made the call to carry on.

You should be the last person pointing fingers mate. You clearly lack imagination, i look forward to seeing how you deal with all the crying and chest beating that will occur when someone crys foul in your tourney.

The AiM comps are supposed to be for fun. If there is a margin of leeway given under certain circumstances it is because i would prefer to see games played than teams winning through forfeit. It is a shame there are cheaters and saboteurs in this context. I hope irl karma pays a visit.

Chill mate. It just seems different clans receive different rules. (clans with admin/mod to 4sg seem to have more "leeway" then clans that have a clan of nobodies gets.)

In regards to last years AiM tournament. |dk| didn't turn up and within 2 minutes, a dq was called. That same round, eXc didn't show up, they were awarded a reschedule. And eXc, z|, v97 and pit, all used unregistered players.

That's something that you won't see in my comp. No doubt you will just call this flaming, but whatever, if you see the truth as flaming, then I feel sorry for you.

Your first post in this thread targeted one specific aspect in the opening post in a way designed to start a controversial conversation (namely about adherence to rules in a competition). The underlined part above is almost word for word an element in the definition of flaming and is also almost on the money as the definition of trolling. So yeah, this can be called flaming because it is by definition but if you don't want it to be, then we'll have to say it's trolling.

In your second post you told Gubben to chill. Well I say to you that you need to give him a break so that he can chill. You wouldn't need to be telling him to chill had you not come into this thread to try and inflame it. Remember, this thread wasn't about the conversation you've tried to incite, it was specifically about presenting recent match scores and, even more specifically, about scheduling the semi. So let's not post here again unless it relates specifically to that. Kthnxbai.

re dK being eliminated through forfeit last comp (as indeed they were again this current comp) was due to team not showing up. At all. I would need to review the details i have, but from memory smokin had trouble assembling his team on several occasions, he wasnt dq-ed two minutes after the grace period. Get your facts correct. Also there is no preference given for the 4sg guys over the other teams. The unreliable nature of this activity, as rl gets in the way, means that concessions will be made, or many games will end in forfeit and that is no fun, and defeats the point.

sketchy you put words into my mouth and then say you feel sorry for me not seeing the truth of those words you put in my mouth. Like wtf?

Re your comp, whose name differs from the AiM comps by one letter, you might find that you will end up dq-ing most teams as no one turns up on time, many wont have their roster as planned and will bring in subs (which as long as they havent played for anyone else is ok imo) and some will be warping, but youre the expert, obviously. glhf
