My school had a high speed fibre optic line which linked to the tafe's microwave link which is 100mb/sec though they didn't charge per meg downloads for me... But yes, I never used to download too much there because the department of education would block out so much stuff and I have my own 1.5 meg line here at home with a 40 gig limit on it... So many sites blocked, you can't use torrents cause those ports are blocked etc... Basically only high speed HTTP servers..

Though like ..ME.. mentioned... People used to download like gigabyte files but then anyone else in the school who wanted it, could go to the same link, however it would just download it from the proxy...

Proxy servers are great for thost situiations, where there are lots of people and lots of computers using the same internet connection
