I'll do my best to make it. Thankfully I've already done the hard part of finding q3, cdkey, updates and installing it when I dug out those demos.

If it helps I have a spare box sitting here and can easily host a server..... just got an adsl2+ connection though... will that be enough? (10mbit down / 1mbit up)

But i'm sure some of you must have faster connections!!

Hmm Q3, i havent pulled that disc out in years, don't even know where it is... might have to look under a pyramid or two.... failing that i wont be able to play unless it is in QL...

lol ... so it turns out that i cant even find my original install CDs (For Q3A and TA).

Never fear. piracy is here! ... along with backup DVDs of all the pk3 files. Though, after installing q3a on my linux laptop for a dedicated server, i realised two things.
1. back when you needed a dedicated server was because your gaming machine could only run the game let alone a second instance as a dedicated server.
2. Current system specs and networking bandwidth allow for flexibility int his matter.
3. With 2 monitors, it means i can keep the dedicated server window in view for errors/cmds etc.

I'll have a dedicated server up and running, will do a test run if anyone is interested on Monday night.
