Another tain of though. I have skipped a few steps but while reading this thread I am thinking about what is true Christian etc...I run a scout group and at each weeks meeting I ask each scout to tell me about a good deed they did that week. That got me to thinking I am not really interested in bits of text about what is this or that I would rather hear about actions.

What are your deeds that you do that show your worth having on this planet?

Expansion of consciousness and progression of society as a whole through technology and research

I work for a medical devices manufacturing company. Sure, the bottom line is we're out to make a profit (that's the whole point of being in business), but we also really do make a massively positive influence in peoples lives. More importantly, we actually care about what we do.

In fact, if you've ever been ventilated in hospital, you're more than likely (we have 90% of the market world wide) have been connected to one of the machines we manufacture, also if you have had a baby born pre-maturely, your baby's life was quite possibly saved with another one of the machines we manufacture. We also make things for laparoscopic surgery, COPD, OSA, oxygen therapy... the list goes on.

This is one of the reasons I _really_ enjoy going to work. Because we really do make a difference in peoples lives.

This what I'm talking about. I stick pipes together day in day out and while jobs good etc I find myself thinking I need to swap to something that is a service to people that is a need not a want. To me this where is at and how you get the most reward back to yourself. Humans are hard wired to help each other, it's better for the survival of the species and it's another reason I think all this doom and gloom is not on the mark. Sure we have some bad apples but if we are to be judged bring it on. People are basic lyrics good.

Seriously though, in the past 12 months I have volunteered my services to;
Build 2 x 2 b'room cabins for living completely off grid, 1 on this property & 1 as part of a complete permaculture property makeover-
Planted well over 1000 rainforest & native plants, including 3 local regeneration projects -
Attended & supported 10+ anti CSG rally's & protests - *Yo Gubb's, I was at Bentley 3 weeks ago... should organize to team up one trip -
Collaborate & build a cob pizza oven at a local environment centre -
Designed & held workshop to build a small scale Aquaponics system -
Managed to fit another kidney op in just to keep things interesting -
Collaborated on redesign of 1000 acre organic farm -
Attended 6 natural beekeeping workshops -
Made some killer Mead -
Did some work on my bike -
Continuing to refine a medical marijuana tincture for friends with MS... and for my PD... with great results this past 3 yrs.

.... a little bit of every thing this past year, except played a decent game of quake :/

hey Toga, yeah lemme know next time you are heading over there. I went sunday night and shot the dawn vigil monday morning before heading back to work. Havent started cutting the footage yet and want to interview the Casino mayor before i put it together so hoping to do another dawn session soon, especially as there is talk of the Metgasco peeps arriving soon. Good to see the police are sympathetic to the protectors position...

Frodo, I'm no better than most people i think. I have led a pretty hedonistic lifestyle producing extreme sport films but since my return to Australia have begun to produce social activist material, stuff about anti fluoride, anti whaling, anti uranium and anti gas fracking and the like. Its only a small contribution towards the awakening process and there is no money in it as that is not the aim, i hope it is for the betterment of humanity and society...

@gubs - i reckon it's amazing the number of things that need highlighting...one of the most important i think that should be taught in schools (steiner schools teach it in aust, but they're the only ones), is fractional reserve banking. the history of that explains much of why the corruption is so bad today and how to deal with it. that flouridation thing is just nasty though...
