Yeah JT is was great back then. Not that it isn't now of course!

I miss the old days of both the forum and quake. It seemed a lot friendlier back then. By that, I mean everything didn't seem as serious.

Good to see the forum got back up and running again though....

I know there was a lot of site hacking in the early days, & I recall the 1st PiT forum was hacked and data lost back when Baldricks Hovel was still o/line... pre Nov 2002.
I found this post to be the oldest post on our current forum... it was in Admin Archives & confirms my thoughts of other lost data in years gone past.

well to show my age yes I was back in the ground zero days.
All we had with dial up and it was dam slow and lag was a word we bitched about in every sentence.
JT you are right as Jay has said about alpha.
Back when we got bad lag there was a server we all played which had a good connection and it would let us play more smooth than any other server. SO it become out mecka/home where we all would meet every night.
Back then if you were lucky you got to LAG FRAG each other when a mate was lagging he just froze and was a easy kill lol was ok with mates but not a civil thing to do but everyone did lol

SO came a day when the server was closing and we were all peaking out where we would all go to keep mates with each other. Back then there was a name "DILDO PORN" lol later he changed to JOF "just one fix" he made some good maps later in life all pit crew played. Not sure if JOF is here but anyway he started a small forum just before the server dropped and we all met there to say where we all could play with less lag.

Baldrick at this time came forward and said he would make a dedicated place for us all to go and organise and he started making cd's with maps loaded and skins and so on. He was in I.T and had fast net so he loaded all the cd's and for free would send them to us all save us downloading it all with dialup. Now I have had to many beers and to many years but there was a small reason why we moved from JOF's forum or are to the new one Bladrick started.

As stated we all talked about hey let make a group and then we needed a name and since we were all alpha crew that was one of the first ideas. Pit came up from some where it could have been GREATBLOKE as said here it was a song into the pit.

So yeh we all chatted and we use to chat tones online in q3 not just here. We would all get online work day about 6 or 7pm and not uncommon to finish a session at 4am and then sneak a sleep before work. F**k I lost so many hours of my life to q3 its not funny lol it wasn't the game it was the crew that was about. It was a mass social thing for us all plus a game. Hence why we all got together here so well. Guys here help start my business in the early days and so on we all helped each other for anything. We lived all over oz and had some games together. I have been to Townsville with scunbag and rusty plus from the top of qld I went to Melbourne where I think it was baldrick, mikey, pinky, ob1, greatbloke,V, maybe kannon foda or was that in Brisbane lol to many years. Thing stumpy was there to maybe, not sure now but there was a few more people over a weekend but to long ago. So that's is how it all came together.

Then we got sick of voting so we made leaders to look after general sh1t so we could be more lazy haha and we voted only on important sh1t.

Well that's about as good as I can recall. Sorry if I forgot anyone or anything in there it has been many years. I am 40 now and this I am sure was my mid 20's. If I spent some time I could work out what house I was in maybe and get a real time for all this but yes its over 11 years and more if you count when we all played alpha server. Is Jay still about here? Last time I saw you, you came up to cairns on a tour and we had a few games with rusty. Then of course there was his spit roasting home movies he made lmao

nah jay hasn't played quake for a while... too much battlefield and old school runescape.
he did his back in about a year ago and has been off work since on a pension the poor bastard.
but u would think with all his spare time he could do a bit more quaking!

Quake 3 Arena when it came out was a fantasticly attictive game , many late nights awsome history ..

JT, yeh for sure say hi to Jay, sorry to hear about his back maybe it was spit roasting related lol I don't think he showed me the deep throat one lol I have done worst through asia lol but I never made movies from it like on Jay lol It was a crack up when he posted that dam funny days. Liven the life then as he was doing the road trip after his break up I think it was.

Na I have not been on q3 for years, I think I had a crack at the new one when it came out but that's about when we all just seam to disappear like a pack of vampires lol

some said once now you don't even buy the game you just go online? is that right ? f**k these days I don't no if I could even pull off a rocket jump lol that's if you can even do all those things now lol I like the thai name but mate lol

yeh dv8 dialup days were fun but hard, even when I got 150kb connection on my first adsl I still pinged 105 lol but it was like the matrix after usen dialup for a few years lol

those nights sometimes I would be in tears laughing with everyone till sun up. So many laughs but that was the best thing about the game it bought a lot of similar addicted people together lol I have never loaded another game since then as q3 ate my life up lol to scared case I get hooked again lol
