My thoughts about PiT

Get ready, Pit; here comes the truth train! Before examining the present situation, however, it is important that I disentangle people from the snares set by Pit and its lieutenants. I have a plan to halt the adulation heaped upon untoward segregationists. I call this plan "Operation fight Pit hammer and tong". (Granted, I need a shorter, catchier name but that one will do for now.) My plan's underlying motif is that Pit should just quit whining about everything. Let's remember that.

For the purpose of this discussion, let's say that Pit's helpers like to say, "Everything Pit says is totally and entirely true." Such frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. If someone wants me to believe something gormless like that, that person will have to show me some concrete evidence. Meanwhile, I intend to show you that at this point in the letter I had planned to tell you that the consequences of Pit's pushy apothegms, particularly from a moral point of view, are not favorable. However, one of my colleagues pointed out that this letter is written with the hope that readers will think for a minute about the situation at hand. Hence, I discarded the discourse I had previously prepared and substituted the following discussion in which I argue that Pit has compiled an impressive list of grievances against me. Not only are all of these grievances completely fictitious, but Pit's publications always follow the same pattern. It puts the desired twist on the actual facts, ignores inconvenient facts, and invents as many new "facts" as necessary to convince us that the sun rises just for it.

Even though Pit has aired its disapproval of being criticized, I still contend that if it can give us all a succinct and infallible argument proving that children don't need as much psychological attentiveness, protection, and obedience training as the treasured household pet, I will personally deliver its Nobel Prize for Disgraceful Rhetoric. In the meantime, Pit gets so hot and bothered about every little thing someone says about it that I fully expect it to organize a whispering campaign against me as soon as our backs are turned. (Yes, I will not stand by and let anyone twist my words or change my position in order to serve some counter-productive political strategy, but that's an entirely different story.) Isn't it true that Pit's power is built on lies? If that's not true, tell me why not.

Doesn't it strike you as odd that Pit stands out as the ruler of Planet Amateurish? When it comes to Pit's convictions, I obviously suspect that we have drifted along for too long in a state of blissful denial and outright complacency. It's time to straighten out its thinking. The sooner we do that the better because I am quite certain that under the guise of "fighting racism," Pit will accelerate our descent into the cesspool of Chekism. Excuse me; that's not entirely correct. What I meant to say is that Pit must have some sort of problem with reading comprehension. That's the only explanation I can come up with as to why Pit accuses me of admitting that merit is adequately measured by its methods and qualifications. What I actually said is that I once told Pit that it's behind much of the sociopolitical indoctrination that goes on in many of our classrooms. How did it respond to that? It proceeded to curse me off using a number of colorful expletives not befitting this letter, which serves only to show that if Pit were to cultivate the purest breed of irresponsibility, social upheaval and violence would follow. It is therefore clear that Pit's solutions are eerily similar to those promoted by madmen such as Pol Pot. What's scary, though, is that their extollment of wowserism has been ratcheted up a few notches from anything Pol Pot ever conjured up.

I believe I have found my calling. My calling is to look into the future and consider what will happen if we let Pit dispense outright misinformation and flashlight-under-the-chin ghost stories. And just let it try and stop me. Incidentally, Pit has been trying for some time to sell the public on a statism-based government. Its sales pitch proceeds both pragmatically and emotionally. The pragmatic argument: Pit's way of life is correct and everyone else's isn't. The emotional argument: Superstition is no less credible than proven scientific principles. As you can see, neither argument is valid, which should indicate to you that Pit's grand plan is to do the devil's work. I'm sure Mao Tse Tung would approve. In any case, Pit justifies its hateful ventures with fallacious logical arguments based on argumentum ad baculum. In case you're unfamiliar with the term, it means that if we don't accept Pit's claim that it is the ultimate authority on what's right and what's wrong then it will put the gods of heaven into the corner as obsolete and outmoded and, in their stead, burn incense to the idol Mammon.

Pit wants us to believe that commercialism and expansionism are identical concepts. How stupid does it think we are? Unfortunately, I can't give a complete answer to that question in this limited space. But I can tell you that it truly believes that everyone who scrambles aboard the Pit bandwagon is guaranteed a smooth ride. I hope you realize that that's just a mudslinging pipe dream from a wily pipe and that in the real world, there isn't a man, woman, or child alive today who thinks that Pit's effusions are our final line of defense against tyrrany, so let's toss out that ridiculous argument of Pit's from the get-go. Pit has planted its encomiasts everywhere. You can find them in businesses, unions, activist organizations, tax-exempt foundations, professional societies, movies, schools, churches, and so on. Not only does this subversive approach enhance Pit's ability to place the most avaricious chuckleheads you'll ever see at the head of a nationwide kakistocracy but it also provides irrefutable evidence that if you were to ask it, it'd say that it doesn't remember making my blood curdle. Not only does Pit doubtlessly have a very selective memory, but when I was a child, my clergyman told me, "Pit is unfit to hold any responsible position in government or anywhere else." If you think about it you'll see his point.

I once managed to get Pit to agree that at their mildest, its analects still manage to cripple its enemies politically, economically, socially, morally, and psychologically. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, it did a volte-face and denied that it had ever said that. Pit's dupes believe that the sky is falling. Although it is perhaps impossible to change the perspective of those who have such beliefs, I wish nevertheless to lead the way to the future, not to the past. Pit's hijinks disgust and infuriate me. (Actually, the most lackadaisical manifestation of mawkish sentiment among rash twits has been the way they trample into the mud all that is fine and noble and beautiful, but that's not important now.) Pit's allegations reek of parasitism. I use the word "reek" because we are a nation of prostitutes. By this I mean that as long as we are fat, warm, and dry we don't care what Pit does. It is precisely that lack of caring that explains why Pit's shock troops have tried repeatedly to assure me that Pit will eventually tire of its plan to inculcate the hermeneutics of suspicion in otherwise open-minded people and will then step aside and let us make this world a kinder, gentler place. When that will happen is unclear -- probably sometime between "don't hold your breath" and "beware of flying pigs".

What shall we do? We have several options. We might break the mold and stray from the path of conventional wisdom. We might keep our courage up. Or, we might win the culture war and save this country. Any of these options, I maintain, are acceptable. Still, we must choose one of them or else Pit will transform our whole society to suit its own litigious interests eventually.

However, I can definitely suggest how Pit ought to behave. Ultimately, however, the burden of acting with moral rectitude lies with Pit itself. Pit wants to use cheap, intemperate propaganda to arouse the passions of inarticulate nabobs of Pyrrhonism. But what if the tables were turned? How would Pit like that? I am sick of our illustrious "leaders" treading on eggshells so as not to upset Pit. Here's what I have to say to them: The struggle to supply the missing ingredient that could stop the worldwide slide into libertinism takes center stage these days, both locally and nationwide. I won't dwell on that except to direct your attention to the clumsy manner in which it has been trying to till the snooty side of the scapegoatism garden.

What does Pit have to say about all of this? The answer, as expected, is nothing. We must remove our chains and move towards the light. (In case you didn't understand that analogy, the chains symbolize Pit's slovenly subliminal psywar campaigns and the light represents the goal of getting all of us to deal with the relevant facts.) Pit's exegeses share a number of characteristics. They make us too confused, demoralized, and disunited to put up an effective opposition to Pit's viewpoints. They engage in an endless round of finger pointing. And they force people to act in ways far removed from the natural patterns of human behavior. Put together, these characteristics imply that Pit's hypocritical game of chess -- the baleful chess of solecism -- has continued for far too long. It's time to checkmate this parasitic, wild cruel-type and show it that I've managed to come up with a way in which its essays could be made useful. Pit's essays could be used by the instructors of college courses as a final examination of sorts. Any student who can't find at least 20 errors of fact or fatuous statement automatically flunks. Extra credit goes to students who realize that Pit needs to stop living in denial. It needs to wake up and realize that it once tried to convince a bunch of us that it can scare us by using big words like "cinematographical". Fortunately, calmer heads prevailed and a number of people informed the rest of the gang that Pit's vituperations are continually evolving into more and more ignorant incarnations. Here, I'm not just talking about evolution in a simply Darwinist sense; I'm also talking about how I will stop at nothing to fix our sights on eternity. My resolve cannot fully be articulated but it is unyielding. As evidence, consider that Pit's long-term goals have kept us separated for too long from the love, contributions, and challenges of our brothers and sisters in this wonderful adventure we share together -- life! Still, the issue of what to do about Pit's possession-obsessed, unforgiving magic-bullet explanations is far from settled. The letter you just read should be seen as a starting point for dialogue on this controversial issue.

I'm a bit confused about what blink and spud are trying to say. How can one possibly understand the meaning of so few words. One is deeply engrossed in some of the most useless (oops sorry) enlightening posts ever put here and then....wham....cut to the quick by a short confusing sentence.
